The Columbus County Board of Elections meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 5:00 pm at the Board of Elections office located at 50 Legion Dr., Suite A, Whiteville. 

MISSION STATEMENT
The Board of Elections conducts Federal, State, County, and Municipal elections while striving to improve the electoral process in Columbus County. This department is the first step in democracy by providing efficient, fair, and open elections. The Board of Elections has the overall responsibility for administration of voter registration, the electoral process, and campaign finance disclosure.

PHOTO ID, SAME-DAY REGISTRATION, OUT-OF-PRECINCT VOTING, & PREREGISTRATION

On July 29, a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit struck down photo ID requirements and other elections procedures enacted under S.L. 2013-381 and amended by S.L. 2015-103. Barring any alternative outcome on appeal, the following are no longer enforceable:

The Election is to be held on November 8, 2016



Candidate Filing for the following seats will take place on the following dates:



Soil & Water Conservation Supervisor Filing Fee - $5.00

Filing begins – June 13, 2016, 12:00 Noon/Ends July 1, 2016 12:00 Noon



Columbus County School District (1 & 5) Filing Fee - $61.00

Filing begins – June 24, 2016, 12:00 Noon/Ends – August 1, 2016, 12:00 Noon



Whiteville City School District (3 & 4) Filing Fee - $61.00

Filing begins - July 11, 2016 12:00 Noon/ Ends – August 8, 2016 12:00 Noon
