Notice of Special Called Meeting

A Special Called Planning Board Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 6:30 pm at the Dempsey Herring Courthouse Annex to review a proposed text amendment to the Columbus County Code of Ordinances, Chapter 10, Part 2, Article 8 by adding the following land use to Section 2. Regulated Uses:  "Subdivisions where more than 10 new lots are created at one time, or if 10 or less lots, multi-family dwellings are proposed on those lots.”

The Columbus County Planning Board meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Columbus County Commissioners’ Chambers in the Dempsey B. Herring Courthouse Annex located at 112 West Smith Street in Whiteville. The Planning Board reviews and makes recommendations on ordinance text amendments, major subdivision preliminary plats, rezoning requests and conducts public hearings on special use permit requests.   If you are planning to attend a Board of Adjustment meeting, please check with the Planning Department by calling 910-640-2851, to verify the meeting date.

Board of Adjustment Meeting Schedule

The Columbus County Board of Adjustment meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Columbus County Commissioners’ Chambers in the Dempsey B. Herring Courthouse Annex located at 112 West Smith Street in Whiteville. The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial body that hears and takes final action on variances, special use permits and appeals of administrative decisions.   If you are planning to attend a Board of Adjustment meeting, please check with the Planning Department by calling 910-640-2851, to verify the meeting date
