Local Health Director

Columbus County Board of Health has a Local Health Director position available.

The Health Director of Columbus County (pop. 50,121), directs and manages a total staff of 60 (employees and contract personnel) with an annual budget (24-25) of $6 million.  Work involves providing planning, leadership and directing program development and implementation, establishing program standards, monitoring and evaluating quality of service delivery systems, supervising budget activities and has direct involvement in conflict/complaint resolution, staffing and personnel issues.  The Health Director represents the agency with government officials, medical/dental societies, health care providers, public/private schools, the press and a variety of advocacy groups to influence the decision making process in order to insure adequate resources for program maintenance and expansion and the delivery of comprehensive services. 

Requirements:  A medical doctorate or a master’s degree  in public health administration and at least one year of employment experience in health programs or health services; or a master’s degree in a public health discipline other than public health administration and at least three years of employment experience in health programs or health services; or a master’s degree in public administration and at least two years’ experience in health programs or health services; or a master’s degree in a field related to public health and at least three years of experience in health programs or health services; or a bachelor’s degree in a field related to public health and at least seven years of experience in health programs or health services, which must include at least three years of supervisory experience.

Note: Minimum training and experience requirements are in accordance with GS 130A-40 and GS 130A-41. For related masters or bachelors degrees- the determination must be made by the State Health Director.

Salary: Grade 82 Hiring Rate $78,859; Salary Range $82,801 to Max $118,427
