CRISIS INTERVENTION PROGRAM (CIP)
WHEN: Beginning July 1, 2024
WHERE: Columbus County DSS
Applications are taken each year beginning July 1 st - June 30th of the following year or until the Crisis Intervention Program allocation is exhausted, whichever comes first.
WHO MAY QUALIFY:
- Household MUST meet an income test.
- Household MUST include a U.S. citizen or non-citizen who meets the eligibility criteria.
- Households o must have a past due, final notice or disconnect notice from BEMC, Four County or Duke
Energy or o must have less than $20 on their powerstat, or o must have less than 10% fuel during the winter
- Household MUST be without another heating source.
- Household MUST be without sufficient, timely, and appropriate assistance from any other source.
- Everyone living in the household will be included in the application.
- Have a utility statement/account that shows how much is owed to alleviate the crisis
- Household MUST have an energy related crisis and have a health related or life threatening emergency to potentially be eligible for crisis frnds
WHAT TO BRING:
- Picture I.D. for person making application and SS#'s of all household members
- Utility notice or account number from BEMC, Four County or Duke Energy OR Powerstat card with a legible card number
- If making an application for another person, must have a written statement from that person and a phone # where that person can be reached during the application process — can only be primary application and one other application
